Aluminum heatsink sold as a bar, for high power led cooling. It has a smooth side where leds can be placed onto, by means of an adhesive or thermal paste. The piece is sold as originally obtained form extrusion, and can show some minor grooves and marks on its smooth face. Though usually it is not neccessary, a mild polishing of this face can increase heat transfer between led and heatsink.
The opposite side is longitudinally finned to increase heat dissipation.

RECOMMENDATIONS OF USE
Please read and follow carefully this recomendations to avoid damage to components.

Use by natural convenction (without fans), horizontal position, fins up: this is the least favourable position for the heatsink, with the least efficiency achieved and hence bearing the smallest quantity of leds.
Our test results indicate that:
- The thermal dissipation coefficient for this heatsink is about 9ºC/W/100mm.
- It is very advisable that the heatsink works continuously bathed in air at similar temperature to that of the room (avoid closed canopies/enclosures).
- To achieve a good long term durability of the leds, in this mode of application we recommend a maximum of 1 3W led for every 15 cm of heatsink length.
- To avoid overheating and permanent damage to the led and other materials in contact, in this mode of application you shouldn't surpass a maximum of 1 3W led for every 10 cm of heatsink length.

Use with forced areation (with fans), horizontal position, fins up: this is the recommended way of use as it achieves a great temperature drop and allows for a more intensive use of the heatsink.
Our test results indicate that:
- The ideal fans for this application are 40*40 mm 12VDC fans, running at 6V with and approximate air flow of 5.5 cfm, spaced every 10 cm approx. lengthwise.
- The thermal dissipation coefficient is 1,2ºC/W/100mm.
- It is advisable that the heatsink works bathed at room temperature air, or inside an enclosure with venting grooves/grids.
- If you want to preserve long term durability of leds, in this form of application we recommend a maximum of 6 3W leds every 10 cm of length of the heatsink. Heatsink size and led stars sizes usually will make denser applications quite difficult.
